Unshift represents the work and interests of interactive designer and developer Steve Mackey, living in the beautiful Comox Valley of Vancouver Island, Canada.

Steve is a partner at Denman Digital Inc and a sessional instructor in the interactive media department at North Island College.

Between 2009 and 2015 he freelanced under the name Unshift Interactive where he collaborated with agencies, studios and his own clients across Canada. Prior to that Steve worked at large and small design agencies in Toronto and Vancouver, as well as with publicly funded corporations including the CBC and National Film Board of Canada.

Steve’s work has garnered international recognition from the FWA, the Webby’s, Digital Marketing Magazine, Applied Arts, Communication Arts, One Show Interactive, Canadian Screen Awards, RTNDA and the ACE awards.


From mobile, to web, to giant touch screen installations, Steve enjoys taking projects from concept development to execution. As an interactive designer, he advocates for the use, experience and responsiveness of software. Steve prides himself in his professionalism, problem solving ability and easygoing nature.
